Zhu Cha, or Gunpowder green tea, hails from China's Zhejiang province and dates back to the Tang dynasty (618-907 C.E.). The unique method of crafting this tea includes steaming and rolling the leaves into small, tightly-packed pellets before drying. Its nickname comes from the resemblance to shiny old-school gunpowder pellets!
When brewed the aroma is sweet and slightly smoky, with delicate nutty undertones and a robust character. The earthy and lightly vegetal flavors are perfectly balanced, a rich and harmonious cup.
